Insurance Coverage

Materna Lactation is in-network with Aetna. Most Aetna policies cover up to 6 lactation visits, including prenatal visits. It is your responsibility to make sure we are an approved provider with your specific Aetna plan as some plans have coverage and service restrictions. If you and/or your baby are covered by Aetna insurance, we will bill for your services directly with Aetna. You are responsible for the consultation fees if insurance does not cover your fees.

The Lactation Network (TLN).
TLN covers plans directly.  Plans included in TLN: Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO (Horizon BCBS PPO, Anthem BCBS PPO, and out-of-state BCBS plans), United Health Care (UHC), Cigna PPO, Humana PPO, some United planes, VA CCN (Veterans Administration Community Care Network), and any carriers with a PNOA (Provider Network of America) logo. Up to 6 lactation visits, including prenatal visits, are included.  Pre-approved visits are covered at 100% and TLN will bill your insurance plan directly.

To get pre-approved go to TLN’s Materna Lactation specific site. You should hear within 24 hours if your plan is pre-approved.

If you do NOT receive approval from TLN, a Super Bill will be provided for you to submit to your health insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Non-insurance visits require payment at the time of the consult. Cash, checks, and credit cards accepted, including FSA, and HSA cards.

Cancellations less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a $50 charge.

Home consultations are subject to a $40 travel fee.
